Looky, Looky At All The Pretty Colors!!!

I can't even explain the excitement I have right now...it's like Christmas morning as a child! For those of you who couldn't care less about fabric...well, you won't quite get me here but for those of you who understand the addiction to beautiful fabric or at least appreciate color...you'll probably get my joy...maybe!

Anywho, so yesterday I received the loveliest package full of some of the most beautiful fabric, Sandi Henderson's complete collection of Meadowsweet! It took my breath away as I went through each of the 30 different patterns...love it!

What's even more exciting is that I get to experience this childlike Christmas morning felling two more times in the very near future! I ordered both Heather Bailey's "Nicey Jane" fabric collection (which is oh my gosh gorgeous) and Tanya Whelan's "Dolce" fabric collection! Besides the fact that the Dolce Collection is super lovely, I had to buy that for the name alone...hello...if your last name is Dolce it's only logical that you own the Dolce Collection, right? Yep people, that's a lame excuse but I HAD to have it...don't judge me, okay?!! ;-)

Alrighty, so now that my craziness is being fully displayed, I might as well say that I also received the Heather Bailey COMPLETE Collection of Pop Garden, 63 different designs (I got a KILLER deal on it) and CAN NOT wait to play with it! Yes, I know, I am not only fabric crazy but I have this thing where I have to have every piece of a collection...again, don't judge me!

With all of this confession being spilled out, I'll share with you a few pictures of the new Meadowsweet fabric and the Pop Garden fabric collections! AND, as soon as the Nicey Jane and Dolce collections get here I'll give you a little sneak peak of those, too! Because I know that you just couldn't go on without it, right? Come on people, let me indulge myself in this silliness a little longer...hehehe!

At some point I hope to share some pictures of my WHOLE fabric collection but that will DEFINITELY have to be another time because I have WAY too much fabric for one little lady...let me tell ya! But when I have the time I am determined to photograph all of my beautiful addicitons...

Here a picture of the Meadowsweet...you only get one pic of this because I'll be posting a few new rag quilts from it soon ~

And here is a more indepth look at the Pop Garden Collection ~

Pretty, huh?!!

Have a SUPER Day!

So Many Plans, Too Little Time

Okay, so it's been WAY too long since I last blogged...a lot has been going on! From getting a new sewing machine, tons of new fabrics and life in general, I feel like I just haven't had a moment to just sit and type away.

***OH...and to all my Facebook friends who read this, I have my blog set up so that it sends a copy to my Facebook. So, if you were wondering why in the world Mary Carole creates these Facebook Notes about herself and her crafty stuff...there ya go! It's my blog! If you want to see the real blog just go to LaDolceBoutique.blogspot.com. It's much prettier over here and you can become a fan if you so desire ;-)!***

Anywho, life has been busier than 24 hours in a day allows. The first half of Thanksgiving week we took the kids to Disneyland and then came back to Vegas to celebrate Thanksgiving at home before we went on a week long stay with my mom and family to the Fabulous Las Vegas Strip (7 miles from our home...funny huh?) We stayed at a beautiful condo with 3 bedrooms so that everyone had a little space and just enjoyed our time together while celebrating my mom's 60th birthday! Needless to say I am a little (A LOT) exhausted from all of this go, go, going and as of this moment I haven't even got our Christmas tree up and haven't really started gift shopping! Being that we have 3 kids I am REALLY behind! Yikes!
As for my store and crafts...I have so much fun stuff coming up but most likely it won't really get started until after the holidays have ended! I can't wait!
Here are a few of my newer rag quilts that have been in my store for a while but that I haven't put on my blog. Some of you have already seen these but for my own records I am posting them here so that I can look back in years to come and see them so I apologize in advance for the repetiton :-)!

The Busy Little Bee Quilt Within a Rag Quilt (the pictures do not do this one justice). I have used two fabrics in each square creating a fun box quilt within each square! ~

I'm planning on posting some different fabrics that I will be creating some fun stuff with but I'll leave that for another blog!! I hope that you are all enjoying this Holiday Season!

Have a BEAUTIFUL Day!

I (YES, me) WON the Fabric Giveaway by Lila Tueller!!!! I am sooo excited and still can not believe I won! Out of hundreds (if not thousands) of enteries I will be receiving her brand new fabric designs that aren't even for sale until the spring which means I will be one of the first to create some fun stuff with her Eden Collection which is ABSOLUTELY beautiful! I will be receiving an Eden Layer Cake (40 10x10 inch pieces of fabric) which I am thinking I will most likely make two traditional style rag quilts and I will also be receiving an Eden Jelly Roll (40 - 2 1/2 x 44 inch strips) which I am thinking I will be making a patchwork quilt within a rag quilt!!! Ahhh...how neat O this win is! AND, I also won some of her AWESOME patterns! I think I need to go out and play the lottery...I'm feelin' lucky today! ;-) Thank you Miss Lila for making my day even more fantastic!

Things Are A Movin' Along...SLOWLY!

Well, after a very eventful summer and the start of home school for the kiddos, I am just now really getting back into the crafting swing of things. I have so many fun projects that I CAN NOT wait to start! I just wish that I had 10 arms and 40 hours in a day (oh, wouldn't that be grand?).

I did get a moment to create a crib size rag quilt and matching lovey and I am excited to say that they both sold within 48 hours of me posting them in my Etsy store! Isn't that neato? Anywho, I didn't get to post them on my blog (because I am really bad at blogging) so I am posting it now because I really loved them and want to remember both of them in years to come :-)! Tacky? Yes! Do I care? No!

Soooo, I have gotten a little done but there is so much more locked up in my head that is just dying to get out!! Not only do I have MANY rag quilt and lovey items, I am also going to start creating my diaper cakes again AND some fun hair clippies and korker bows!

Alrighty, I am off to the drawing board! I hope you are all having a SUPER Day!

I'm Back...Sort Of! (The adventures of our family summer time!)

Lake Tahoe

(Sorry, this is a long one!)
Well, I am back...sort of! After 5 weeks of going, going, going, I am exhausted! Our family vacation turned into a fun filled adventure with a few situations that made my husband and I consider turning our truck around and heading home before something else happened but all in all, we had a GREAT time together!

We first headed up to Northern Nevada to spend a week and a half at my in-laws. They actually have two homes near Lake Topaz which allowed for us to have our own space, which we are VERY thankful for, especially with 3 kids! You should have seen the amount of stuff we brought with us for this LONG vacation...we seriously looked like we were moving! As we arrived after our 6 1/2 hour drive, we pulled into the "guest house" driveway and as soon as we opened the door to the house, we smelt something not so right! Immediately I realized that the smell was GAS! Fortunately the situation was easily fixed but we had to stay out of the house for a long while so that it could air out BUT we wouldn't have hot water until MONDAY! In other words, I had to drive up to my in-laws to take a shower and bath the kids each morning.

During our time there we were able to drive up to Reno to visit some of our friends over night. It was such a nice visit, the kids kept eachother company playing from morning until evening and the adults just sat back and relaxed (something I was desparate for at this point). On our way back to the Lake Topaz area the next morning, we heard a loud bang and figured a rock had hit the bottom of our truck. Moments later my husband heard a strange noise coming for the truck and look out his window to find that the drivers side tire was QUICKLY losing air! Amazingly he noticed this right before the last exit to civilization...otherwise we would have been stranded on the side of the road for a long time! He was able to pull into a gas station right before the air was completely out of the tire. The only problem was that the air from the tank at the station was not able to fill the tire enough to drive it to a shop. He pulled the truck into the side parking lot that just happened to be connected with a Starbuck's ( thank you Lord)! I grabbed all of the things needed for the kids, not knowing how long this ordeal would take while my husband called AAA. (We just signed up with AAA a couple of months ago and I HIGHLY advice any driver to have this service after this event!) Anyways, so the kids and I camped out in Starbuck's not having any clue how long we would be there. My 15 month old's nap time was rapidly approaching and I was trying to figure out exactly how I was going to get him to sleep without disrupting the whole coffee shop...he likes to fall asleep on his own in his own area! Right about that time I saw the tow truck pull up and thought that our truck was going to have to be towed to a tire shop to be repaired BUT within 10 to 15 minutes, the tow truck pulled away and we had a full tire again! Oh, how relieved I was at that very moment. After sending up a very special "Thank you Jesus", I grabbed all of our "stuff" and reloaded the kids, high chair, diaper bag, toy bag and snacks back into the truck. Let me just say that while in that Starbuck's I came across some of the nicest people from all of the workers to the other patrons around me and my "crew". I will forever be grateful for all of their kindness during our little mishap.

The following weekend we headed back up to Reno to spend a little time with my mom who had driven up from Central California (about a 3 hour drive). This has become an annual event and we always stay at the same place and just hang out, relax and go shopping for a day or two together. But as this vacation goes, things did not go as planned. We had planned to meet up at the Red Lobster near by (something we do every year). We got there a few moments before my mom and right about the time she pulled up, steam started to come up from under her hood! My husband tried to assess the situation but being that he is not extremely familiar with BMW's, he could only guess that there was a leak in a hose. After eating he took my mom's car and we drove over to the hotel. He stopped at 3 different shops, all of which turned him away because they don't work on BMW's before he finally and reluctantly took it to a BMW dealership (which just happened to be 5 minutes from our hotel). The problem was that they wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem until Monday and most likely wouldn't have the parts needed until Tuesday, which left my mom in a bind. After much brainstorming and phone calls to my step dad, they came up with a plan that my step dad would drive up Sunday after he got back from working all night and would stay over until the car was repaired while my mom took his car back so that she could make it in to work Monday morning. See, just another episode in our "interesting" vacation! We drove back to my in-law's for a few more days of visiting.

After our nice visit with my husband's family, we headed to my parents (yes, I know, we just saw them the weekend before but hey, we love eachother gosh darn it). This part of the trip was more just to drop off the kids and visit for a couple days before my husband and I got to have our own mini vacation within a vacation! When my husband turned 30 (2 years ago), my mom had given us a week long trip to Tahoe. Of course, I got pregnant 4 months after his birthday which delayed our trip over 2 years but hey, we were finally getting a little "just the two of us" time together. So, we headed to Tahoe...just the two of us! We felt lonely without the kids! Being that our kids are with us ALL of the time (I am even starting home school in a couple weeks), we felt incomplete without them. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed ourselves but it fully brought to my attention how much I truly LOVE being with my whole family. As for our trip together, we did quite a bit. For those of you who have never been to Tahoe...it is BEAUTIFUL! We went to the lake a few times and took a ride on the gondolas all the way up to the top of the Heavenly moutain for a full day of hiking, eating and enjoying the view! We also became aquainted with the many buffets and I have to say that Monte Blue's is by far the best. By Tuesday I was so ready to see the kids again that my heart ached for them. I had hoped to win on the Mega Bucks slot machine but considering that my husband is back at work today I guess it's obvious we didn't win!

Once the week was over I was SO excited to get back to my parents house to see the kids! We arrived after the kids had gone to bed and I was so sure that my little guy would be thrilled to see me in the morning when he woke up. So when I heard him cry I jumped up to get him out of bed only for him to want NOTHING to do with me! He wouldn't even look at me. As soon as he saw my mom he leaped into her arms and turned his head away from me with his eyes purposefully shut! He was so mad at me! It took him about 2 1/2 days and a solid hour of just the two of us cuddling together before he fully accepted me back into his world. Amazing! I don't know if I have ever felt so helpless than those few days of him not letting me mother him. My 3 1/2 year old and my 12 year old were so glad to see us back and my mom said that our 3 year old mentioned at least 20 times a day how much she missed us while we were gone. Have I mentioned that I LOVE my family!? We spent another week and a half at my parents house before we finally returned home. That time seemed to fly by so fast. I had hoped to see more of my high school friends during that time but we were so busy that I think I would have needed a solid month to see everyone I had wanted to. I did get spend some time with a friend of mine and her kids for a few hours and I drove the kids up to see one of my dear friends in Roseville for the day but primarily I just enjoyed being with my parents and kids! I even did something I have never personally done before...I planted a garden with my mom in their front yard! My husband is usually the one who does that at our house but now he may have a little sidekick because I thoroughly loved it!

Fortunately we didn't have any other mishaps and our visit was so nice and went by WAY too fast! I am now home and trying to unpack ALL of our "stuff", I feel like we are moving back in. Did I mention that my mom bought the kids all new toys so that they would have fun at her house while we were there? Yep, it was like Christmas in July for them! AND, she sent all of the toys home with us, bikes and all! She seriously is the best mom and grandma EVER!

As for my Etsy store, eventually it will be back open but it may take a while...after we are fully settled back into our house, I have to get prepared for the start of home school!!!! Oh the adventures never stop! I hope that all of you have had a fantastic summer. I am looking forward to the fall season and the cooler weather...and all of my ideas for my store! Keep posted, I have some neat ideas that have been boiling in my brain this whole summer!!!!
OH...and I'll post some more pictures soon! :-)

The Sweet Country Girl in the City Rag Quilt Lovey Blankie

So lately I have been feeling pretty creative but there's a little problem with that, I get so excited about all the different things that I want to make that I start working on all of them simultaneously and then feel like I don't get anything done in the end! I had posted a while back that I was going to make a quilt with the Simplicity fabric from Moda. Well, I got all of the many, many squares cut as well as all the extra squares that I had decided I was going to make rag quilt loveys out of and then I got bored...that tends to happen A LOT with me. Between continuous interuptions from my sweet little ones (which I really don't mind because they sure are super cute) and my creative mind ALWAYS brain storming my next project(s), I tend to get sidetracked.

I got so disappointed with myself for not getting anything completed that I decided then and there that I was going to at least finish up a few of the loveys from the Simplicity fabric which I have titled THE COUNTRY GIRL IN THE CITY collection, naming each item with a different adjective that seemed to describe it best. I now feel like I have accomplished SOMETHING and I have SOOO much more to do! Of course, I am taking a month off for "vacation" so I will not be working on any of it until after I am done with my break! Go figure, I get all these fantastic ideas right before I take a much needed break from it all! Hey, summer is only here for so long and the kids will only be "kids" for a very limited time so I am going to take a full month to just enjoy being a family! All I know is that once we are back to our regular routine...watch out world cause I've got some REALLY exciting things coming up! Woohoo!

Oh yeah, back to my original subject...I just added the "Sweet", "Lovely" and "Happy" Country Girl in the City Rag Quilt Loveys to my Etsy store. If you are interested in checking out my little store, you can visit it @ www.LaDolceBoutique.etsy.com I will have it up for one more week before I take my LONG month breather! Yippie!

I hope that all of you have a WONDERFUL Weekend!

The Sweetest Onion

You know those days where NOTHING seems to go as planned and the kids just won't cooperate and all you really want to do is climb back in bed so that you can start over with a fresh new day? Yes, I had one of THOSE days the other day...actually it was more like a solid week of days like that but right in the middle of all of the unorganized chaos, God sent me a little message in the form of an onion. Frustrated with the kids lack of hearing or should I say just plain not listening while I was making dinner, I cut into an onion to add to the salad and the most perfect little heart was right in the middle of it! I love when God reminds me in the smallest of things that He loves me...even if it does come in the form of a stinky onion! :-) And of course I had to take a picture of it to remind myself later how unique that moment was!

Sea Turtle Square Diaper Cake

Just a little quickly here...I just got done creating this custom order for a WONDERFUL customer. I am really loving this turtle, he is so cute! She had been admiring my Beary Special Delivery Diaper Cake for a while but her sister in law is going with the turtle theme so she requested a turtle diaper cake simular to the Beary Special square cake...and here ya go!

For the past while I have had my diaper cake website on Temporarily Closed so that I could focus on my new etsy store. Eventually I plan to add some of my new diaper cakes to my etsy store and then at some point reopen my official diaper cake website but for now you can visit the site www.dolcebabydiapercakes.com to see what it is all about.

And, if you would like a custom order diaper cake please feel free to contact me so that we can make arrangements!

My Next Rag Quilt Project! Woohoo!

100_5269
Originally uploaded by LaDolceBoutique
So, during my pregnancy with my son, especially towards the end, I wasn't up for physically creating much of anything but my brain was constantly putting together different rag quilts and other crafts. I have a HUGE stash of fabric due to that time in my life when all I could do was buy "fabric for the future". Okay, so I am simply addicted but it sure did sound good to label it like that!

After he was born, I wanted to take some time off to devote to all three of the kids which meant that I was still purchasing fabric but wasn't really making much! Case in point, my beautiful Simplicity fabric!

I saw this fabric when it first came out and knew I HAD to have it. I love the softness of the colors. There's something about it that makes me think of a Country Girl in the City...maybe that's what I'll name the rag quilt!

Anywho,so this is my newest project...I am now off to cut my squares!

Have a SUPER Day!
